DON'T LEARN SAFETY BY ACCIDENT

Are you interested in obtaining a Connecticut State Pistol Permit?
If you want to carry a concealed firearm and/or to purchase a firearm for the purpose of getting into the shooting sports, then you have come to the right place. I am a Certified NRA Instructor. I teach the Basic Pistol Permit Course required by the State of Connecticut. This is where you need to start. This class is not intended to turn you into a marksman or teach you personal protection. As with anything, proficiency comes with practice. Completing the course does not guarantee that the state will issue you a permit. You still must meet all of the DPS requirements. My goal is for you to leave this class with the knowledge and understanding of firearms, so that you may enjoy the sport safely.

What the course offers:
The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is 5 to 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, two handed and one handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, course completion certificate.
When coming to the course, students should not bring their own firearm. All course material ammunition and firearms are provided by the instructor. There will be two breaks given during the class. Upon completing the classroom work, there will be a test given to make sure you understood the material presented. The course will finish off with a live fire exercise, using both a revolver and semiautomatic pistols and proper range responsibilities. The cost of the course is $120.00, due at the beginning of the class. Please bring cash only.
